Pip was a tiny, fluffy cloud, no bigger than a cotton ball. All the other clouds loved to rain, making puddles for ducks and helping flowers grow. But Pip couldn't cry. He tried wiggling his edges, puffing himself up, and even thinking about sad things like lost teddy bears, but no raindrops would fall. The other clouds, big and grey like grown-ups, would rumble with gentle laughter, 'Don't worry, Pip, maybe you're just not a rain cloud!' Pip felt a little lonely. He loved seeing the happy splashes and the shiny, wet leaves, but he didn't know how to make them happen. He floated over a vibrant green meadow where a family of bunnies were looking worriedly at their dry carrot patch. 'Oh dear,' sighed Mama Bunny, 'if only it would rain, our carrots would grow!' Pip felt a pang in his fluffy chest. He wished he could help. One sunny afternoon, as Pip drifted over a park, he saw a little girl sitting alone on a bench. She had a bright red balloon that had floated up and gotten stuck high in a tall oak tree. The girl looked so sad, her lower lip trembling. Pip felt a strange feeling, a warm, bubbly sensation, and then, without even trying, a single, perfect raindrop fell from him, landing right on a leaf near the girl. Then another, and another! Pip realized he didn't need to be sad to cry. He could cry happy tears! He giggled, and a gentle sprinkle rained down, making the leaves glisten and the air smell fresh. The girl looked up, surprised, and a little smile touched her lips as a tiny rainbow appeared in Pip's gentle shower. Pip learned that day that everyone has their own special way of sharing kindness, and sometimes, even the smallest cloud can make a big difference with a little bit of happy rain.
