Synopsis

In the dimly lit alleys and opulent penthouses of 1948 New York City, rookie private investigator Jack Rourke takes on what seems like a simple missing person case: Evelyn Reed, a woman vanished without a trace. Eager to prove himself in the cutthroat world of private investigation, Jack plunges into a labyrinth of secrets, lies, and dangerous encounters. His investigation quickly leads him through the smoky jazz clubs of Harlem to the mansions of Long Island, revealing a complex web of connections involving socialites, corrupt politicians, and a mysterious figure known only as Victor Martel, who seems to be pulling the strings from the shadows. As Jack delves deeper, he becomes entangled in a romantic relationship with Lila Moreau, a beautiful and enigmatic socialite connected to Evelyn, blurring the lines between professional duty and personal feelings. Detective Miller, a cynical NYPD veteran, offers reluctant guidance, navigating the treacherous waters of a corrupt police force.
